Welcome Brian Burris
as Pastor of Children, Youth & Family Ministries

Sunday, April 26, 2015, Brian Burris received a unanimous call to be our new Associate Pastor. Recognizing that God has raised up another of our church family, one of our own, to be a Pastor, is cause for celebration.

Brian and his wife Shannon have been members since August 18, 2002. Brian has served many ways in our church: Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, volunteer Associate Pastor of Discipleship over Community Groups, and most recently as In-terim Pastor of Children, Youth & Family Ministries.

Brian will begin May 1, 2015 as a full time pastor.
Brian was also recommended by the Deacons for Ordination, with that motion also passing unanimously. At the next Deacon’s Meeting a date will be set for his ordination. On that day we will celebrate with a church dinner and special welcome to his new role.

Congratulations to Brian, Shannon, Caitlyn and Chase. May God use you in a bold way and bless you abundantly!

What Do People Believe?
Wednesday Night Summer Study 6:30 pm
June 10 – July 29
A recent PEW Research survey on the status of religion in the USA said that there is a shifting and clarifying of religious preferences going on in our nation. The survey said that the fastest growing religions are the “Nones” (those who have no identified religion), Islam, Mormonism and Christianity. Christianity is still the largest religion, but with the number who identify themselves as Christians reduced to 70.1%. There are definite challenges to Biblical Christianity in the USA. The first study will be a summary of key beliefs of Islam.
To prepare for witnessing requires knowledge of what others believe. This study will provide basic knowledge and witnessing strategies to help you as you encounter other belief systems. Even the Nones have beliefs. All the religions are a challenge to Jesus as “The Way, Truth and Life”. Preparation through prayer and knowledge opens opportunities for Acts 17 encounters that give Truth and Hope in Jesus Christ.
For your own personal study go to the North American Mission Board site, There you will find information on World Religions and Denominations.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
